Course Requirements:

Attendance at a level 1 (Core) ultrasound course and proof of completion of mentored training with a logbook including positive case studies.

Duration:

Two days

Guided by experienced physicians
Small groups and lots of scanning time
Delivered over a two day intensive course

Day 1

Under exam conditions, candidates are repeatedly mentored in all four Level 1 modalities using the assessment marking sheets. After each session, feedback is given to optimise the scanning technique. Each round is intended to build on the previous one, to improve the candidates confidence and ability as the day progresses.

Day 2

Candidates are mentored for a final practice of the Level 1 modalities before the assessments take place. Each candidate will be assessed for 30 minutes in all modalities and will be given an opportunity to re-sit any modality they fail later in the afternoon after another practice session. In addition, candidates will be assessed with MCQs meant to test their theoretical knowledge, recognition of pathology and clinical integration. Accreditation in Level 1 will require a pass in all 4 modalities and the MCQs.
